BAL – Afreximbank partnership : youth at the heart of priorities

With visible international growth, the Basketball Africa League (BAL) continues to forge partnerships to promote African talent. The latest collaboration with Afreximbank aims to give young basketball players greater visibility and empower them by developing their financial capabilities.

In order to strengthen the skills of young professionals in the field of basketball, the BAL and Afreximbank have announced the expansion of their collaboration. This new initiative aims to empower young professional basketball players in Africa by improving their financial capabilities.

Afreximbank is a partner and, as you have seen, we have signed a partnership to extend our agreement. It is thanks to this type of partnership that we have ambitions for the league. The Road to BAL, organised by our partner FIBA, is proof of this partnership and will begin in October.

Amadou Gallo Fall, BAL’s President

At the heart of this multi-year partnership are high-impact initiatives such as BAL Advance: Next Play.  This programme, planned for the league’s sixth season in 2026, aims to develop the leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirit of players and coaches across the continent and to leverage their unique perspectives to drive innovation and growth in the African sports ecosystem.

Through its events, we can see the impact on the public’s enthusiasm for basketball. In terms of the achievement of having a new champion, Al Ahli Tripoli, it is about the competitiveness and continuity of the teams.

Amadou Gallo Fall, BAL’s President

Afreximbank will also support the development of young sports professionals through BAL Future Pros, which focuses on the experience and networks necessary for a successful career. For Amadou Gallo Fall, this long-standing collaboration with Afreximbank is part of a commitment to use basketball as an engine for economic growth and the BAL as a platform to develop and showcase African excellence.
