Trailing by 15 points in the third quarter, the Eagles rallied thanks to a decisive run and forced overtime with a masterful lay-up by Aliou Diarra. In overtime, Siriman Kanoute and Mahamane Coulibaly gave Mali the decisive advantage.

The true hero of the evening, Aliou Diarra recorded an impressive double-double: 35 points, 16 rebounds and a record rating of 50. Supported by Coulibaly’s 24 points, he brought down a Côte d’Ivoire team led by Matt Costello, Solo Diabaté and Lionel Kouadio.
